1976 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet W/ Recent Overhaul

Buffet Crampon R13 Bb clarinet.  S/n 170XXX makes this a vintage 1976—right at the end of Buffet’s Golden Era and one of the most sought-after periods ever.  It is in excellent condition:  wood is a great billed of aged grenadilla with a tight, straight grain and no cracks, chips or repairs.  Tenons are square with no wobble between joints.  Silver plated rather than nickel, about 99.9% with little if any wear at all, and polished up amazingly nice.  Note that silver is a $542 upgrade over silver and much harder to find used.  Had all new pads installed not long before we acquired it, and all are still in excellent condition.  Just through our shop where it needed very little other than a new middle tenon cork, bore oiling, and very minor adjustments.  Plays very nicely across the entire instrument with a big, warm tone and excellent intonation.  Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece, Buffet cap, D. Bonade inverted ligature, new ProTec microfiber cloth, and new SuperSlick chamois swab.  All in the slim pochette case with zippered case cover.  Sells for a whopping $4,768 at WWBW these days, so save about $1,800, and snatch up one of the nicest you’ll find on the used market!
