Buffet Crampon Pre-R13A Clarinet--New Pads, Big Sound!

One of several professional A clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a Buffet Crampon pre-R13A.  It is a low pitch instrument, unlike many of the early Buffet’s you find, and can be played with modern orchestras.  It is in excellent condition:  one short, repaired crack on the bell starting at the socket and extending maybe 1.5”, and a tiny ding off the edge of the middle tenon, both seen in the photos.  No other chips, cracks, pins or repairs.  Wood is a nice, aged billet of grenadilla.  Keys about 99.5% with little if any wear at all, and polished up to an excellent shine.  Just through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned, bore oiled, lubed, and had all new pads installed—a combination of Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double-bladder, pressed-felt pads, and Ferree’s premium cork pads.  Plays very nicely with a full, dark tone and excellent projection—more open and bigger-sounding than a modern R13.  Comes in a lightweight double case in good condition with strap.  An excellent option for a pro clarinet in A without spending three grand on a newer R13, and just in time for the new school year!
