Exceptional Buffet Crampon C12 Conservatoire Semi-Pro Clarinet!
One of several Buffet Crampon clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a semi-professional Model C12 Conservatoire. It was designed to be Buffet’s high intermediate (or entry-level professional model-- depending on which Buffet catalog you read) for advanced players who need an instrument far better than the E11, without the full cost of an R13. It is made in France at the same place by the same folks as the R13, with the same wood and just very slightly different keywork—and in fact sold for approximately $300 less than the R13 as late as 1992. S/n 515XXX is far too new for the published lists, but 2002 will be very close. It looks far newer: silver plate (not nickel; silver would be $430 extra on an R13!) is around 99.9% intact with little if any wear at all; no chips, cracks, or repairs to the wood; tenons nice and square with no wobble at all; logos nice and fresh as if it’s right out of the box. Just through the shop where it was bore oiled and repadded in the traditional manner with Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double-bladder, pressed-felt pads. Plays delightfully—pretty much indistinguishable from the multitude of R13’s we have for sale with excellent intonation and the same warm, expansive tone. A far better choice than the German-made, intermediate E11. Includes a Buffet 125 mouthpiece in an F3A facing, Buffet cap and Buffet ligature, swab, and screwdriver. Cork grease is for local pickup only and will not be shipped. Comes in the slimline pochette case with a classy, zippered case cover. The perfect clarinet for your very advanced student at $1,000 less than a similar R13 or new E12F, and just in time for Christmas!
