Restored and Replated Buffet Crampon R13 Bb Clarinet
One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a vintage Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet in Bb. The serial number has a digit which is hard to read, but is either 1187XX or 1127XX—either 1970 or 1971, right in the middle of Buffet’s Golden Era. It is in the nicest condition you could imagine: just through the shop where it was completely disassembled including the posts, cleaned, and bore oiled. Grenadilla is a nice, straight grain with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Tenons are nice and square with no wobble between joints. Keys are near perfect, having just been prepped and replated in bright silver by Anderson—though I think there are a couple of very small spots where they could have done a little better, and perhaps a couple small scratches if my screwdriver slipped. This plating did include even the posts and three tenon rings, though I confess I must have forgotten to send them the bell ring. All new needle and flat springs, all new key corks and spacers, keys refit individually and lost motion removed, all new tenon corks, all new Valentino white Masters’ Series pads. Plays delightfully with a soft, even and quiet feel to the action, a full, warm tone with an open feel. Includes a brand new ProTec case, Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece, cap, D. Bonade ligature, and three reeds. Key oil is for local pickup only and will not be shipped. An amazing clarinet from one of the most desirable periods in Buffet history in the nicest condition you will ever find, and almost $2,500 less than brand new!
