Selmer Series 10 A Clarinet--Ferree's Overhaul, Double Case
- of several professional A clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a Selmer Series 10 in the key of A. S/n X29—makes it a vintage of 1972. Designed to compete with Buffet’s R13’s which were in the middle of their Golden Era at the time, the Series 10 has a polycylindrical bore rather than the large, conical bore of the Series 9, with slightly smaller undercut tone holes. It is in excellent condition: wood has no chips, cracks or repairs, nickel plating about 99.5% with little if any wear. This one came to us with an aftermarket barrel, but it has been replaced with a similar Selmer * 4mm.5 with a matching logo. Just through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned bore oiled, lubed, had all new tenon corks installed, and was repadded with Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double bladder, pressed felt pads on the lower and Ferree’s premium cork on the upper. Plays very nicely across the entire horn—somewhat easier to play in tune I think than most of the R13A’s we sell, with better intonation than the Buffet (and the Series 9, for that matter) and a bigger, darker sound. Comes in an excellent double case—actually a 70’s R13 case, I think. A great pro A at a thousand less than an R13, and the perfect companion for your Series 10 Bb clarinet!
