Selmer Signet Intermediate Wood Oboe With Fox C1 Bocal
We are pleased to offer for auction this Selmer Signet wooden bassoon. Signet was Selmer’s intermediate line for decades, and this instrument is far better than most beginner bassoons, with a maple body for a more rich, sonorous sound than plastic instruments, and a range up to high D. The bell was cracked and repaired by another shop before we received this, and it appears very well done and will likely last forever. Keys and body have very minor wear and scratches. Unlike most used bassoons you might be looking at, this bassoon was just completely disassembled, cleaned, keys hand polished, and had all new white leather kid and premium cork pads installed—a $455 value that should keep it playing well for years. It plays very nicely across the entire horn, and is ready for your advanced student. Includes a Fox C1 bocal—nickel silver with silver plating—which had a crack in the side which has been repaired with high-strength silver bearing solder and now measures a solid “0” for leaks on the leak tester. Technically it’s a temporary repair, but it should last a very long time if your student is reasonably responsible. (Besides-- it’s a $300 bocal, and far better than the generic ones you usually find on student instruments.) Includes a hard case with external wear but in solid structural condition. An excellent horn for an excellent student in far better condition than most used bassoons, and at half the price of most student horns!
