Vintage 1970 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet--Overhauled!
One of many professional clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a Buffet Crampon R13 Bb horn. S/n 117XXX makes it 1970—right in the sweet spot of Buffet’s Golden Era and one of the best periods you could hope to find. It is in excellent condition: body is a nice, heavy billet of aged grenadilla with a tight grain and no chips, cracks, or repairs. Tenons have little wear and there is no wobble between joints. Nickel plating about 95% with some wear on the most commonly used keys as seen in the photos, but Buffet double plates their keys and there is no wear-through of the second layer. Just through the shop where it was bore oiled and had all new Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double-bladder, pressed-felt pads installed, along with all new tenon corks. Plays very well with that dark, full 70’s Buffet tone and an open feel. Cork grease, key oil and bore oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, Buffet silver plate cap and ligature, a new ProTec microfiber cloth, and a new SuperSlick chamois swab. All in the period case which is also in very good condition. A great clarinet from one of the most sought-after periods ever, and at about $2,500 less than brand new!
