FAQ

Why "Ashantee

WHY "ASHANTEE?"

"Ashantee" (pronounced "ASH-en-tee") was the name given by the native Americans to an area of upstate New York where Nathan's parents owned The Old Creamery Bookshop And Emporium.  Our shop was named in honor of them, their long hours of labor to feed eight children, and the many lessons I learned under their care.

WHAT IF I DON'T SEE WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR?

We have a huge inventory, and often items sell before we can even add them to the online site.  Please ask if you're looking for something special!

HOW CAN I SELL YOU MY INSTRUMENT?

We are always happy to consider purchases.  Please click here to send us an e-mail.  Please be sure to include photos, and relevant information such as make, model, year, history, condition, and included accessories.

DO YOU RENT INSTRUMENTS?

We encourage musicians to be good stewards of what God has provided, and that rarely includes renting an instrument.  In almost all cases, purchasing a good, used instrument is wiser in the long run, even if only for a couple of months.  If you are a parent wanting advice on finding an instrument for your beginning student, please feel free to ask!

DO YOU OFFER TRIAL PERIODS?

Certainly!  Please see click here to see our instrument trial policy.

DO YOU DO INSTRUMENT REPAIRS?

Our instrument repair services are not available to the public at this time.  In the Northern KY area, we recommend Cook Instrument Repair:   For professional oboe repairs, we strongly recommend Nick at Tip Top Oboes.  If it's an hour before your concert, however, and you need a quick fix, we will certainly try to accommodate you!
