1946 NY Bach Stradivarius trumpet
Beautiful 1946 Bach New York (pre-Mt. Vernon) Stradivarius Bb vintage trumpet for sale! Bell unmarked as usual, likely a 37 or 38. (The “67” on the bell refers to the Bronx manufacture, not the bell taper.) One-owner horn with original receipt still included, untouched for decades, and kept in amazing condition. I had some dents removed at the curve of the bell pipe as shown in the photos. Other than that, hardly a scratch on it. You have to look really hard to find any defect in the finish at all. Even the serialized valve pistons look hardly used. All tuning slides free, except possibly the third-valve crook, which as far as I can tell is not supposed to move on these early models. Sound is focused and medium-bright, “vintagy,” excellent in the upper ranges and a bit bland at the bottom. A great jazz and ensemble horn. Compression is nice and tight, valves smooth but a little noisy with the original metal valve guides. Video available if I can figure out how to send it to you; it’s too big to e-mail. Additional pics available on request as well. Original case with moderate wear, case cover in excellent condition. NY 7C mouthpiece in poor condition included as well. Certainly the nicest NY Strad you’ll ever see!
