1962 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet W/ Moennig Barrel

One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet in Bb.  S/n 735XX makes it 1962—an vintage clarinet from a great period in Buffet’s history.  It is in excellent condition:  nickel plating about 95% with just a little wear on some of the keys but still polishes up bright and shiny as seen in the photos.  Body is an excellent billet of aged grenadilla with a tight, straight grain, no chips cracks or repairs, and little wear at all to the tenons with no wobble between joints.  Best of all, this has just been through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned, bore oiled, lubed, polished, had all new tenon corks installed, and was repadded with Valentino Master’s Series synthetic pads—one of the quietest, longest-lasting pads available.  Plays delightfully across the entire instrument with a huge, dark tone and very little resistance at all.  Even better, this has a more recent Moennig reversed-taper 65 mm barrel which very nicely tightens up the twelfths and fixes a lot of the intonation common to Buffets.  Key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new SuperSlick chamois swab and the slim case with tape over some small tears in the covering but structurally in excellent condition.  A great horn in unexpectedly nice condition from a great period!
