1977 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet W/ Valentino Master's Overhaul
One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet in Bb. S/n 174XXX makes it 1977, right at the end of Buffet’s Golden Era, and one of the most sought-after periods ever. It is in excellent condition: wood is a great billet of vintage grenadilla with a straight, tight grain and no chips or cracks other than a hairline crack in the bell which we repaired so nicely that’s it’s almost invisible on the outside as seen in the closeup. Plating about 99.5% with little if any wear, and note that this is silver rather than nickel—a $336 upgrade and much harder to find on the used market. Just through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned, hand-polished, bore oiled, lubricated, and had all new Valentino Master’s Series synthetic pads installed—one of the longest-lasting, quietest pads available. Play exceptionally well across the entire instrument with a very dark and focused tone and a soft, even feel to the keywork. Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new ProTec microfiber cloth and new SuperSlick chamois swab. All in the Buffet slimline pochette case in very good condition. A great, silver R13 from probably the best decade ever, and more than $2,600 less than new!
