1997 Fox Renard Protege 333 Oboe!
One of several intermediate oboes we are offering for sale. This is a Fox Renard Model 333 Protege. This is a high-quality, American-made beginner instrument that includes bunches of keys not found on most beginner instruments: low Bb, numerous trill keys, F-resonance key and maybe some others that I’m forgetting. S/n 138XX makes this a relatively new 1997, and it looks the part: resin body has minor wear but no chips, cracks or bore damage, silver plated keys about 99.5% with little if any wear at all. While we usually overhaul all our oboes, the pads on this one are in such good condition that we just sent it off to Nick Thompson at Tip Top oboes, where it was adjusted and brought into excellent playing condition. Plays very well across the entire instrument with a light touch and little resistance. Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new ProTec microfiber cloth and silk swab. The slim pochette case has a broken/missing latch, but the other latch holds it securely and it is also in the zippered case cover for added safety. (If you’d rather, we do have other case options available separately.) The most popular beginner oboe for decades just serviced by one of the best in the business, and just in time for Christmas!
