1958 Bach Mt. Vernon NY Stradivarius 43 Trumpet!

SKU: 0

Hard-to-find Mt. Vernon Bach Stradivarius Model 43 silver Bb trumpet for sale! S/n 175XX was built June 4th, 1958, and shipped just two days later to the USAF. Very good condition: cosmetically, it does have small dents and dings and signs of dent work here and there, mostly on the bell flare and crook, but nothing glaring. All are easy to reach by the loving touch of your favorite tech. A very little bit of spotting along the leadpipe as seen in the photos, which is likely the original leadpipe, and would have been a MV 25.  43 yellow brass bell. The horn has apparently been replated in silver rather recently, with just a very tiny bit of plating wear mostly at the end of the leadpipe at the main tuning slide. The first valve slide has been converted to a modern-style reversed configuration. All tuning slides free including the third-valve dump slide. New slide O-rings, water key cork, and stop rod bumper and nuts. Serialized valves. Best of all—the valve pistons are absolutely perfect—having been made so just prior to this listing by Mark at Metzler Brass, who did a complete valve rebuild—and the compression is therefore also as good as new. It plays extremely well—a little brighter than I would expect for a 43 with great projection, well balanced with excellent but flexible slotting using a Bach 3C mouthpiece, and throwing a Bach 6 on it opens and warms it up a bit and gives it a great low end. Comes in a ProTec MAX case in good condition with a worn external pocket. An amazing, sought-after horn, and in about the best condition you’ll ever see!
