Bach Mt. Vernon Stradivarius LT18037 37* Trumpet
Absolutely gorgeous Bach Mt. Vernon Stradivarius Bb trumpet for sale! Very hard-to-find 37* (lightweight) model with a 25 leadpipe. This one is serial number 243XX, sold in January of 1964 and likely made in 1963. A one-owner horn from a gentleman who died six years ago at the age of 76, and it is an absolute time capsule: No dents, dings, wear, red rot, signs of dent removal, or any other noticeable flaws. Even has newer water key corks, slide bumpers, and stop rod bumpers. I hate to use terms like “perfect” or “like new,” but this is as good as it gets. Logos are nice and sharp with no signs of it ever having been relacquered. The valves appear to have about ten minutes of playing time on them—clean and pristine as if they’re brand new. Compression is tight. Even the case is in unusually good condition: the bottom board with the feet on it is a little rough, but even the leather edges don’t have all the little dings and tears and the busted-up handle that you would expect to find. Plays great: I’m not really used to the lightweight body and bell, but it’s a lively, super-responsive horn compared to a standard 37, with a brighter and punchier tone. It would be a great horn for ensembles where you need your solo to be heard without exhausting yourself and sacrificing intonation for volume. An exceptionally rare horn in the best condition you’ll ever find it, and just in time for Christmas!
