Fox Model 31 Semi-Professional Bassoon--Serviced & Ready

One of several bassoons we are offering for sale, and one of the most fascinating!  This is a Fox Model 31!  Per Fox, “we only made a few of them.”  Designed by Hugo himself, this is the model that the Model III was based around, and is virtually indistinguishable—in fact, was constantly identified by others as a Model III until I reached out to Fox.  It is in excellent condition:  long bore, range to high D, no cracks, chips, or repairs, nickel silver keys that don’t polish up super shiny like plated keys do, but also don’t wear like plated keys.  Pads are a combination of leather and cork which were very obviously recently replaced and played very little since.  Just through the shop in March 2025 where it was disassembled, cleaned, polished, lubed, had a few pads replaced, all new tenon corks installed, and was reassembled and adjusted.  Key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only and won’t be shipped, but it does include two very good reeds, a new seat strap, new silk bore and bocal swabs, an unmarked #1 bocal, and new ProTec microfiber cloth.  All in an excellent hard case which is itself in excellent condition.  A great intermediate or outdoor backup instrument, at less than half the cost of a new Model III!
