King Marigaux Professional Bass Clarinet!

This example sold Noc. 2025 for $1979 + $200 shipping. One of several intermediate and professional clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a King Marigaux low Eb wooden bass clarinet.  It is in very good condition:  nickel plating about 99% with little if any wear at all.  Excellent grenadilla body with a crack in the upper that was sealed and pinned years ago so nicely that the prior owner didn’t know it was there (and you probably wouldn’t have either) and another short crack in the lower that was sealed and professionally banded years ago—again so nicely that the prior owner was completely unaware.  This has obviously been completely overhauled recently and used very little since, with leather pads almost like new and excellent tenon corks.  Small bit of brazing repair to the linkage between the left and right pinky keys, but it is solidly done and works perfectly.  (Again, done long ago by some other, very good shop.)  The prior owner also had a chip in the middle tenon very nicely filled as seen in the photos.  Just checked over in our shop, bore oiled, with a couple pads floated and a couple very small adjustments made.  Plays very nicely with normal finger pressure from top to bottom, with my only complaint being a middle F# (left hand first finger) being a little stuffy, which is likely either endemic to bass clarinets, the fault of the generic mouthpiece, or my fault entirely (I’m more a Bb soprano kind of guy.)  The right hand F# (two trills plus thumb) sounds perfectly fine.  Includes mouthpiece and a Selmer France ligature and cap.  All in an excellent case, into which I’ve inserted a bit of foam to secure the lower joint a bit more securely.  
 
Made by SML in France and imported by King, Marigaux was their designation for the professional level instrument line, and this has all the features of such:  compensating low G/D vent, alternate left hand Eb/Ab lever, and articulated C/G#.  Per the great Vytass Krass, “The King Marigaux is superb.”  A great-playing bass with near-perfect pads that should last for years before requiring more than just minor adjustments.  A pro-level horn at more than a thousand less than new, student plastic horns, and several thousand less than most professional instruments!
