Rigoutat Professional Full-Conservatory French Oboe!
One of several advanced oboes we are offering for sale. This one is a Rigoutat professional model: body is a nice billet of aged grenadilla with a tight, straight grain, silver-plated keywork, full conservatory including the left F, split-ring D3, F resonance key, low Bb, and extra trills. It is in very good condition: lower joint has a very short crack starting at the socket and terminating immediately in the tone hole. It has been sealed and will never go anywhere, as it is non-weightbearing due to the metal-lined socket. No other cracks, chips, or repairs, no bore damage, little to no wear on the silver plating. Apparently overhauled a few years ago, all pads still nice and fresh with no damage, seals very well, measures under 0.5 on both joints on the magnahelic. Just shop adjusted and bore oiled. Plays very nicely, but oboes hate airplanes, bumpy roads, and FedEx trucks, and may require minor adjustments after shipping. If you’re local, you’re welcome to play this and our other oboes in person. The cheapest, plastic, beginner Yamaha 241 missing half the keys sells for $3,349 new, and the beginner Fox 333 is $3,510. So . . . skip the baby stuff, and get a French-made professional instrument which will last all the way into college, and still save about $1,500!
