Super-Rare Selmer Paris Flugelhorn

Super-Rare Selmer Paris Flugelhorn

We don’t normally sell instruments until they’ve been through the shop, but we just can’t let this sit on a shelf until we have time to get around to it.  Super-rare Selmer Paris France flugelhorn.  S/n 962, made by Selmer as early as the 20’s, but the logo makes it more likely an early 1950’s horn.  It’s based on a revered Besson design by Adolfe Sax, and plays with a smooth, buttery tone that’s hard to match.  It does have minor dents and dings, and moderate lacquer wear as seen in the photos.  A bit of red rot starting around the pinky hook, but probably good for another 50 years.  No signs of repair or major dent removal.  All tuning slides are stuck at the moment.  Valves are fast and smooth with very little wear.  Comes in a great, green, vintage case.  This is the only one for sale anywhere that I can find.  Offering this for sale as-is for $1,899 until we have time to get around to it, and then it will be $2,299.  So . . . snatch it up and let your favorite tech have some fun!
