Vintage 1903 Buffet Crampon Pre-R13 Clarinet!

One of several Buffet Crampon clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a vintage pre-R13, s/n S803, 1903.  It is in good condition:  wood is worn but has no cracks or repairs; keys are nickel silver which doesn’t polish up quite as shiny as silver plate, but also doesn’t wear.  Just through the shop where it was bore oiled and had all new pads installed, along with all new tenon corks.  Plays pretty well for a hundred-year-old instrument, though not as cleanly as a newer one.  It will likely need frequent adjustment due to the keys being a bit softer than modern brass.  Bridge key appears to have been brazed at some time, which is not uncommon for these.   Includes a non-original barrel which I selected after much experimentation to get the octaves to play pretty well in tune.  This is a high-pitch instrument which plays for me almost perfectly in the key of B:  middle C is a B 246 Hz, an octave up is B at 488 Hz, and another octave up at 976 Hz.  Open G is an F# at 273 Hz, an octave lower at 184 Hz.  So . . . pretty good intonation over all.  Includes a worn Tray-Pack style case.  Not at all appropriate for your clarinet student, but a fun horn to own and to play!
