Vintage 1961 Buffet Crampon R13 Bb Clarinet!

One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a vintage Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet in Bb.  S/n 66XXX makes it 1961, and our only one currently available from that period.  It is in excellent condition:  body is a great billet of well-aged grenadilla with a tight, straight grain and no chips, cracks or repairs.  Tenons are nice and square with no wobble between joints.  Keys are German silver rather than plated, which doesn’t polish up to a mirror finish like plated keys do, but also do not wear.  This has been through our shop, disassembled, cleaned, bore oiled, hand polished, lubed, and all new tenon corks installed.  Repadded with all new Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double-bladder, pressed-felt pads—the upper having been completed a few months ago and then apparently it got mixed in with our other hundred R13’s in line for repairs, and we just rediscovered it and finished the lower yesterday.  Plays delightfully across the entire instrument with the typical slightly short and long twelfths common to the period, and a medium-dark tone with a huge core and good projection.  Free blowing with little resistance at all.  No mouthpiece included, but note that we have more than a hundred for sale separately and are happy to combine shipping, along with bunches of Moennig, Chadash and other specialty barrels that will lock down the intonation quite nicely if you’re not used to older Buffets.  Key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new ProTec microfiber cloth, new SuperSlick chamois swab, and the original Buffet pochette case which is itself in very good condition.  A great clarinet from a great period in great condition at a great price, and just in time for Christmas!
