Vintage 1966 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet
One of the least expensive professional clarinets we are offering for sale. This is a Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet in Bb. S/n 84XXX makes this a sought-after 1966—right at the beginning of Buffet Golden Era. It is in very good condition: nickel plate about 95% with just a little wear as seen in the photos. Barrel has a crack which has been sealed and repaired in the most permanent way possible with a total metal sleeve insert. (Note that we have a hundred other barrels for sale separately if you want to upgrade as well.) One very small chip/crack at the lower tenon which was repaired so beautifully that you’d never have known it were there if we weren’t honest about disclosing it. Tenons are square with no wobble between joints. Best of all, this one is just through the shop where it was completely disassembled, cleaned, bore oiled, hand polished, lubed, had cork materials and springs replaced as needed, and had all new Valentino Master’s Series synthetic pads installed—one of the longest lasting, quietest pads available. It plays delightfully across all registers with a big, bold tone, minimal resistance and huge projection. Key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a vintage Selmer hard rubber mouthpiece in an HS* facing, new SuperSlick chamois swab, and two pad savers. All in an aftermarket hard case which is in very good condition, and a brand-new Kaces LUXE Series case cover which gives you additional padding and protection, excellent weather resistance, carrying strap, tons of storage, and even more swag. A great clarinet in great condition from one of the most desirable periods ever, and more than $2,500 less than brand new!
