Vintage 1971 Buffet Crampon R13 Bb Clarinet

One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a Buffet Crampon R13 Bb clarinet in nickel plate.  S/n 124XXX makes this a vintage 1971, right in the sweet spot of Buffet’s Golden Era.  It is in excellent condition:  wood body is an beautiful billet of grenadilla with a tight, straight grain and no chips, cracks or repairs.  Tenons are still nice and square with no wobble between joints.  Nickel plating about 99% with little if any wear at all.  Best of all, this is just through the shop where it was bore oiled and had all new Valentino Master’s Series synthetic pads installed—one of the most reliable, quietest pads available.  Plays with the huge dark tone typical of the period and very little resistance, with a soft, even feel to the keywork.  Bore oil, key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only, but it does include the vintage Buffet hard rubber one up, three down mouthpiece on a Riffault blank in a C facing, new ProTec microfiber cloth, four-reed Reedgard, and a swab.  All in an excellent Buffet hard case with zippered case cover.  A great clarinet in great condition from one of the most sought-after periods ever, and more than $2,000 less than brand new!
