Vintage 1974 Buffet Crampon R13 Clarinet

 One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a Buffet Crampon R13 Bb clarinet in nickel.  S/n 150XXX makes this a vintage 1974, right in the sweet spot of Buffet’s Golden Era and just a year before their 150th anniversary.  It is in excellent condition:  wood is a great, vintage billet of grenadilla with a tight, straight grain and square tenons with no wobble between joints.  The barrel had a very shallow crack which is repaired so beautifully that you never would have known it was there if we weren’t super picky about disclosing such things.   Nickel plating about 98% with a little bit of wear starting, but still bright and shiny as you can see in the photos.  Just through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned, hand polished, lubed, bore oiled, and repadded with Ferree’s premium cork and Ferree’s B17 de’Jur double-bladder, pressed-felt pads.  Plays with a soft touch and even feel, minimal resistance, and a big, warm tone typical of 70’s Buffets.  Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new ProTec microfiber cloth, swab, and Leblanc mouthpiece brush.  All in the very nice brown leather Buffet hard case.  A great Buffet in great condition from one of the best years ever, and more than $2,300 less than new!
