Vintage Buffet Crampon Pre-R13 Bb Clarinet

One of several professional clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is a Buffet Crampon Pre-R13 clarinet in Bb.  This is a low-pitch clarinet which is suitable for use in modern bands, ensembles and other musical settings.  It is in excellent condition:  wood is a nice, well-aged billet of grenadilla with a nice, tight grain, and just a very short crack in the upper joint running from the socket through a post, which was very shallow and did not go through to the bore, and which is sealed so nicely that you probably would never have known it was there.  Tenons are square with no wobble between joints.  Keys are nickel silver which doesn’t polish up quite as shiny as silver plate, but also doesn’t wear or tarnish.  The bridge key on this was cracked and professionally repaired by solid silver brazing.  Best of all, it is just through the shop where it was disassembled, cleaned, bore oiled, lubed, hand polished, tenon corks replaced, and had all new Valentino Master’s Series synthetic pads installed—one of the quietest, longest-lasting pads available.  Plays very nicely from top to bottom with little resistance, and a warm tone which seems to be a little tighter and more focused than most modern R13’s.  Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a silk swab, new ProTec microfiber cloth, and the hard case which is also in very good condition.  A great choice for advancing students needing a full pro clarinet at half the cost of a used R13!
