Vintage Buffet Crampon R16-3/4 R13 Full-Boehm Clarinet!

One of several Buffet Crampon clarinets we are offering for sale.  This one is a vintage, full-boehm R13 Bb clarinet, sometimes known by its Fischer catalog number as an R16-3/4.  The serial number dates to about 1965, right at the beginning of Buffet’s Golden Era.  It is in excellent condition:  wood is a nice, heavy billet of aged grenadilla with a tight, straight grain and no chips, cracks, or repairs.  Silver keys nearly 100% with no noticeable wear at all. In fact, the entire horn seems to have little wear or playing time on it.  Just through the shop where it was cleaned, bore oiled, polished, and had all new Kraus synthetic pads installed—one of the longest-lasting and quietest pads you can get.  Plays very well across all registers with a full, open, warm tone and smooth key work, once you get used to the ergonomics of a slew of extra keys:  auxiliary left Eb/Ab lever, articulated G#/C#, forked Eb mechanism, low Eb, and some extra trills.  Includes 62.5mm and a 59mm barrels which are original Buffets, though I don’t know which the horn originally came with.  Plays in tune for me at A440 using the longer of the two, though this will of course be affected by your mouthpiece and technique.  Comes in a Buffet pouchette case with missing handle, but you can drop it into any backpack or case cover.  A great horn for all-around use, plus bragging rights to the rest of the section!
