Vintage Selmer Paris Bb Flugelhorn
One of several professional flugelhorns we are offering for sale. This is a Selmer Paris Bb flugel in lacquer finish. S/n 12XX, but note that flugels do not follow the published trumpet serial lists, and I have never found a flugel list. Based on other known Selmer flugels, 1967 will be very close. It is in psychotically nice condition: three extremely tiny dings that I can find, which are so small that I didn’t even bother to chase after them with a dent ball. Lacquer about 99.5% with little if any wear at all. All tuning slides are free, water keys corks recently replaced, valves are fast and smooth and quiet. I’ve never found a vintage Selmer in such gorgeous condition. Plays with a smooth, somewhat sweet sound, perhaps a bit smaller bore than most modern flugels (?) but with little resistance and good but flexible slotting. No mouthpiece, but we have dozens for sale separately. Tuning slide grease and valve oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a new ProTec microfiber cloth and what is likely the original hard case—also period correct for a 60’s horn. An absolute classic French flugel from the heart of the jazz period, and in the nicest condition you’ll ever find!
