Vintage Selmer Paris C700 Convertible Bb/C Trumpet!
One of several professional trumpets we are offering for sale. This is a vintage Selmer Paris C700 trumpet. S/n 730XX makes it 1979. This is the large-bore version rather than the more common ML—not that either are common. It is in the key of C, with the optional Bb extension tubing. It is in very good condition: silver about 95% with a little wear on the bell near the main brace, and on the third valve casing. No major dents, but lots of small marks and evidence of past dent removal mostly along the bell and bow, and a little on the ends of two of the tuning slides. Just through the shop where it was chem cleaned twice with a little residual that’s probably gonna stay there till its next ultrasonic cleaning, detergent cleaned, polished, lubed, and had new valve top and bottom felts, new water key corks, and new tuning slide O-rings installed. All tuning slides are free, unless the third valve end is supposed to move, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t. Slotting is surprisingly good—perhaps a little better as a C than a Bb, but I didn’t pull the tuning slides out when I played it as a Bb. Plays with a big, full tone and great projection from that large bore, but you need a lot of air for the same reason. Comes in a vintage double case which appears to be a Selmer, based on it being the same style and having the same hardware and interior as the Selmer single cases of the era. One hinge is a little loose and could be tightened if you want to dig down under the fuzz, but is still secure and safe as it is. Also includes Benge 7C and Bach 5C mouthpieces, new ProTec microfiber cloth, and new ProTec leather finger protector. A great Bb/C horn—perfect for playing the trumpet duet at church and then playing right out of the hymnal without needing to transpose! Very hard to find on the used market, and just in time for Christmas!
