Vintage Selmer Series 10S A Clarinet In Silver
Hard-To-Find Selmer Series 10S A (key of A) clarinet for sale! S/n A96XX makes it roughly 1980. Exceptional condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Silver plated keywork with little to no wear at all. Just through the shop with all new Ferree’s B17 Du Jour pads on the lower, and Ferree’s cork pads on the upper. Cleaned, lubricated, little to no lost motion in keys. Plays very nicely across the entire horn, with a full, responsive, lively tone. (The 10S is similar to early Selmers such as the Centered Tone, with a smaller bore, and preserving the classic Selmer tone which is lost in the 10G series, whose bore was designed to compete with the R13. It’s a great jazz horn, very sweet, but with a lot of power and projection.) Includes a Selmer 10G 64.5 barrel, which is a common substitution, being Moennig’s design and somewhat improving the intonation vs. the original 10S barrel. I’ve also had a Backun MOBA barrel on this, which darkens it up quite a bit for a more orchestral tone. Comes in a very good double case with minor external wear and two keys. An excellent A clarinet with a lot more flexibility than its Buffet counterpart, and hard to find in better condition!
