Yamaha YOB-421 Intermediate Wood Oboe

One of several intermediate oboes we are offering for sale.  This is a Yamaha YOB-421--a special run for JDR, and a step up from the current YOB-441 with the addition of the third-octave key not usually found on beginner and most intermediate oboes.  It is in very good condition:  all-grenadilla body with no chips cracks, repairs or bore damage.  Silver plated rather than nickel, about 80% with some wear on several of the keys as seen in the photos.  Was obviously overhauled within the last year or two and played little since; all the pads are still in excellent condition and seal perfectly.  Just through our shop where it had some very minor regulation and was brought up into excellent playing condition.  Should play perfectly right out of the case if you’re picking it up, may need very minor adjustments if the delivery guy hits too many potholes.  Includes a bunch of keys not found on lesser oboes:  3rd octave key, F# key tab, low Bb and Bb vent, forked F, F-resonance key, some extra trill keys and the all-important left F.  No longer available, this would be somewhere between a 441 and an 841, and would have a current MSRP of about $6,000.  Key oil and cork grease are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include the Yamaha polishing cloth, a new silk swab, and the original hard case with zippered case cover. An excellent, semi-professional oboe that will last through high school, college, and then serve as a backup horn for your student’s professional career!
